Who We Are
Many moons ago while stuck in gridlock after a Jackson Brown concert, I noticed a happy fellow riding what appeared to be a skateboard with a bicycle handlebar zipping up and down between the lanes of non-moving traffic. Two things about it struck me as odd. One, it had incredibly bright lights and second, it was almost completely silent! I had seen (and heard!) many scooters converted with all types of gasoline motors but never seen anything quite like this one before. When the rider stopped to talk to someone going nowhere in the opposite lane, I asked him what it was and where he had acquired it. He joyfully said "It's an electric scooter. I found it on the internet for 99 bucks....can you believe that?"
I was so impressed that when I finally arrived home, I began a search on the internet that would lead me to X-treme Scooters. I immediately applied to become an X-treme dealer and as they say, the rest is history. Bear in mind gas was selling for around $1.70 a gallon at the time and an Electric Scooter was more of a novelty than a necessity. A friend of mine made the comment that "When gas hits $4 a gallon, you may be into something". Who at the time would have dreamed we'd be looking at these astronomical oil prices with talk of $5-$6 a gallon by the end of this summer?
In the interim since that fateful summer eve, study after study has proven that greenhouse gases contribute heavily to global warming and Al Gore released “An Inconvenient Truth”, which was a real kick in the head and an eye-opener for yours truly. Selling Electric Scooters on the Internet all of a sudden became less of a "cool idea" and more of a commitment to promoting alternative transportation and helping to stop global warming.
Department of Commerce and the Office of Energy Independence here are actively pursuing the manufacture and distribution of Alternative Energy Vehicles, and besides, it's one of the most gorgeous, breathtakingly beautiful places I’ve ever had the pleasure of calling home on this unique planet of ours! And it is true ...people really ARE nice here! We’re also only a few hundred miles from the X-treme distribution centre and can have almost any item within a day of ordering it.
